went out in her on monday and when it came to start her to get her home she went fookyou, starter motor was stuck so i got the encouragement unit out of the boot and wacked it and she started...got home and blew a raspberry at her
now being a good car owner I ignored her (thinking a day of rest will sort her out) and took the bike to wales instead...you know all about that
yesterday I decide that the kids might want to eat so gets in the shed and put the key in the ignition and nothing ...no amount of tapping and swearing would change her mind ...she had become postman like and was on stike....while my head was under the bonnet I looked down and double shite there was a huge pool of oil, tracking it up I see that its coming from the rocker cover gasket
a kindly mate saw the bonnet up and me doing my damsel in distress bit, offered his assistance, i thanked him and said the starter motor was kaput but he says give it a try so i did and he says ah its your battery, he had produced one of them volt reading meters...Now i knew it was the startr but as he was so insistant I let him attach the jump leads and tried to get her going...no chance so he says let me have a go(why he thought I could not turn the key correctly I dont know) so in he gets and lo and behold it wont start. Strange that says the man to which i reply whats stranger is the smoke coming out of the starter motor. Little tendrels of smoke seeping out of it and he says ITS THE STARTER MOTOR
so phone the garage, chappie says be out later and he comes and i give him the keys saying its the starter, but he ignores my comment and gets a jump start pack out and i tell him the starter smokes when you use jump leads..........5 mins later ITS THE STARTER MOTOR
now the bit I hate with machanics is that universal sucking in of air through their teeth....you know its going to be bad....aits their brains trying to see just how much cash they can wring out of you....and he says cannot get a starter motor for less than £130 plus fitting, oil and filters, gasket ....going to be £300+ I recon....I see big mark up going on here.....
using femine charm a mate is getting starter £70(new) filters £2 each thats oil and fuel filters, gasket £2.20 diesel oil £7 for 5 litres and no labour so i think I have a good deal but I'm dreading him finding anything else
she is not the most cared for create on the road, shes 15 years old with 180,000 miles on the clock............. she needs new disks and pads both being below tolerance...which i was going to get done next week oh and there is no original exhaust left ...its all weld and bakebean cans and that goo stuff you can buy..plus i wash her when the green moss turns black thats usually on about october and again in may but i did clean the inside last week, well got all the crud out but could not hoover it no extension lead long enough ..maybe next year...she had 4 new tyres 2 weeks ago possibly because the others were getting slick and one blew out, thats when i found out about the disks...but every 15,000 miles i change the oil and filter, and the air and fuel filters so its not all bad
for a car she is a good old girl and i cannot in any way afford to change her, i need her to carry on as my faithful work horse so I ask again for you to send her good vibes to help will her through this crisis, that she can be like peguses and rise out of the ashes

Never rains when it pours eh...At least your feminine charms got you some discount though! Give the old girl a bit of TLC and then she might just well rise like a phoenix out of the ashes

Now treat the old girl to a clean and a hoover, you will feel much better for it... or better still use those charms of yours and get a man to do it, and no that wasn't an offer! Seriously though, I hate bloody rip-of garages, so well done. As far as high mileage goes, my mate's Galaxy has covered 359,000 miles and is still going and his 55-plate merc has just clicked up 250,000, so loads of life left in your motor yet!

great result cause she cost £0
his car had an awful sqeek that he could not find, thought it was the glove box and had tried to "fix it" several times (wasted several hours in the process)............I was in the car less than 5 mins and said its the dash, here....not says he.......... so i proved it by appling pressure to the exact point, and it stopped, until i removed my hand....today he calls and says it was where i said and the fix was, open bonnet and tighten bolt that had as i said worked loose....................................score one for girlie power
sometimes I'm so good, i scare myself

Hope you're not thinking of using this as leverage, DA?
