Well, went for a nice ride on Saturday over to Lynmouth, did a wholesome 300 miles and checked consumption at the end. Very mixed riding, lots of cruising at 80/90, a few bursts to 120 ish and a bit of towny work. Got 53mpg. Well pleased with that.

That's impressive! :)

About 40 is as much as I get, but then I'm not very aerodynamic!
Summer has arrived..........finally. EDIT: That was brief!!

I think it was Nibz who used to get that sorta figure on an FE. Grumpy dyno'd it & stopped the power run midway as it was so dangerously lean.

Don't mean to worry you, but it sounds too good. The only time I've got over 50mpg is ridding like a granny & not exceeding 75mph for an entire tank on main roads using naff all throttle for any accelerating.

That does seem quite alot. most miles iv had out of a full tank is a little over 200 and that was a mixed bag of riding, some fast twistys and some motorway crusing. i ride a k3 in the fastest colours, engine wise it is standard no power comander, never been dynoed but its still an animal when you wind the throttle back!

Hmmm. Thought it sounded too good. I checked plugs and the colour is spot on. It feels a bit fluffy at low revs, not quite as responsive as I think it should be. I have Scorpion cans (marked 'for race use only' although they don't sound loud to me!). Just checked to see if the previous owner had fitted an advancer, but it looks stock. Previous owner said it used to have a power commander fitted but he took it off and sold it. I might try standard pipes to see what happens. No complaints with power though, it rides brilliantly, just a bit fluffy down the bottom end.

From what I've read I'd be putting on a power commander if I was you. :ninja:

Just started checking mine lately

Most of my riding if freeway and I am getting 6.8l/100km

Thats 34.6 mpg if Google is correct..

I didn't think that was too bad but 53mpg.. that sounds incredible

i average about 8L/100km, 29USmpg, 34 Imperial mpg.

last Friday yielded a 180km tank, which got me 9.3L/100km, 25 Us mpg, 30 Imperial mpg. my equal worst figure.

the B-King had a smaller tank but averaged 10-15% better mpg than the 14 in all conditions. the b-king does have the modern busa motor, but i feel it was its slippery aerodynamics that helped the mpg.

After dynoing my GSX1507 the fuel consupmption is:
- riding in Moscow which now became one big traffic jam with average speed about 30-40 km/h mostly on 3 gear my bike eat about 6,5 litres per 100 km
- travelling on long distances with stable speed 130-140 rm/h the comsumption is 6 litres per 100 km

not sure exactly, but off the top of my head, my best is arund 56mpg, and my worst is around 32-34mpg

not worked out how much it uses at santa pod on the strip though although I do know that from a full tank, including the 10 mile ride there from the fuel station, the second bar had disappeared in around 50 miles. normally disappears around 80+ miles :)

I get 40-45mpg normally with akra & grumpy map, pre mapping it was about 36-42mpg.

Well I've been recording the consumption on my FE for the last couple of thousand miles & it's averaging 48+ mpg. But... a lot of that is under 4000 revs (barring overtakes and the occasional through a few gears to 7000 rpm)

Hi - the most I've managed so far is 160 miles , and had 2 bars left on the fuel light , I had to stop as my mate on the Triumph Tiger '09 was nearly out of fuel ... muuuha ha ha. That was from the Forth Bridge, down the A68 and then the A1 , touring ( ahem ) pace.

K6, Scorpion can, fly screen and loaded with luggage. Im not perxactly aerodynamic - 6ft 2, 23 stone !

Probably, K5 onwards seem to have a different stock map that's a lot leaner at the bottom end.

Well, put the stock cans back on and it does run nicer down the bottom end. Fluffiness has gone but the kick has gone out of it when accelerating. So, I assume the bike is tip top, just don't like the Scorpions at the bottom end. I guess the right thing to do is sort the fueling with a PC.
Anyway, there's no way I'm keeping standards on long enough to see if it improves/worsens fuel consumption. Scorpions back on tonight!
