That looks SO much fun!

Want one!

I'd probably be shite though :(

Thiscame up on my recommended. Thought was pretty good - note the back tyres; how they deform at speed!

yeah thats what i was talking about with the rear wheels  though he seems to be kind to his car or have a softer start mechanism programmed in. my wheels go like squashed doughnuts from a standing start. basically no difference if you hold the car in the air or its on the ground at how quickly the wheels change shape  .

the gearing must change dramatically with those bulging wheels.

i guess mine may not be a truggy after all. its a bit lower. i can get slicks for it too, lower the suspension, and change the gearing to whatever! the motor certainly isn't holding the top speed down, its the gearing. its weight comes very handy in actually working the proper suspension at speed over bumps.

nobody would say the proper top speed of my car with the double lipos. lets say its enuff. i need a radar gun or something. with some moonshot gearing, a softer start, skinny wheels and an aero package, it would have to hit some very sill speeds.

note: the australian car doesn't come with the digital transmitter, a better Spektrum one can be had here for 160 bucks. the car runs perfect without it.

Just been watching the Aus truggy & electric titles on Slyfox Jimmy. Truggies are two seconds a lap quicker than the best electric ... 35.1sec to 37.1 secs. Number one son is third qualifier in truggy so he's pretty happy.

They're a must have thing mate. The Hudy set up station is brilliant for chassis set up too.

My son used to buy a new MX bike every season, but racing nitro truggy, buggy, on road and electric 2wd buggy makes bike racing a cheap sport. Best thing is we don't get phone calls from the back of ambulances any more.

well, i just put in some specific thick silicone into the centre diff, put on some huge monster truggy wheels, and some firmer springs. the springs were 5 bucks each so its not exactly big bucks.

the only point of concern is that the hobby bloke just said to squeeze this silicone stuff (pretty much like silicone the second it comes out of the caulking gun) through an undone allen bolt hole in the centre diff. i did this as there seemed to be entire freeplay in the centre diff, so if the car wheelstands on its rear, the power goes to the front.

he said dont bother with drainig, just top up with this stuff. now the diff is real tight

i can feel it kind of strong binding every now and then if i lock the rear wheels and turn the fronts. its raining outside, but on the carpet, its wheelstanding something shocking

any possible drawbacks from an overtight centre diff? the front and rear axle diffs remain silky smooth.

Check your manual for diff oils Jimmy. Stock on an Xray 808 is 5000 front, 7000 centre & 2000 rear, and that's for electric or gas. You really should be pulling your diffs & shocks apart after every two hours running to check bearings, wear & replace all the oils.

You call it a toy ... they are not toys but very high maintenance machines.

....i'm waiting for something to explode on it so i can have some fun fixing it. we'll see if its the centre diff. i put some Xceed 100,000cst silicone oil into the centre diff.

the centre diff oil recommendations for the gv bl cage are from 10,000 lightest, to 200,000 heaviest. so buggy man seems on the money. if the xray 808 is nitro that would explain its super light oils (very low torque motor), and also the high maintenance issues u speak of. but, that can be half the fun i guess.

Excellent! just test drove the buggy with the giant truggy wheels and stiffer centre diff. the car simply explodes and back flips on bitumen under full throttle :o

a judicious use of the throttle can see it take off without a back flip or wheel stand. i see now that the smaller spinning wheels helped to dissipate some of the torque. the truggy wheels will only be useful for grass i think. the top speed is way too excessive now for this set up and huge diameter fat tyres on bitumen.

i just measured the car. its 20inches long, 14inches wide and 7 inches high, and about 5kgs.

this thing is huuuge fun.
